Paul Sowley, CEO
 

Paul Sowley is a seasoned Health, Safety and Sustainability professional in the extractive industry with over 30 years’ work experience across Africa.

 

Paul recently contributed his immense experience to a chapter in the book ‘Sustainability Strategy and Management: An African Case book’ on the topic 'Land Reclamation: Issues and Prospects: Ghana Case Study.'

Until early 2025, Paul held senior leadership roles at Newmont Africa for over 15 years, leading cross functional teams to minimise its environmental footprint and social acceptance. He worked to ensure that local communities benefit from Newmont's presence, and has been involved in efforts to promote human rights across the industry.
 

He has a strong educational background, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Resource Development from the University of Ghana, a Masters Degree in Environmental Management & Technology from Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom, and an Executive Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
