Community Investment
Challenge
Community expectations for sustainable employment continued to rise, despite years of moderate development success. There was a clear need for a more integrated, long-term economic solution.
Approach
A strategic review process was initiated, leading to a new vision and direction for the community investment strategy. A clear framework with defined goals and governance was introduced to ensure impact and accountability.
Solution
A revised strategy was launched to drive alternative employment opportunities, where a dormant agro-processing center was revitalized to serve as a reliable market for local farmers, focusing on chili and ginger production.
Outcome
Over 1,300 farmers now cultivate chili and ginger across 1,160 acres, supported with quality inputs and guaranteed off-take. The center has processed over 120 metric tonnes of produce in five years, significantly boosting local incomes and economic resilience.
