1. Commitment Statement

OneWorld Sustainability Consult is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, contractors, and clients. We recognise that our work may involve risks to health and safety, and we are committed to identifying, assessing, and mitigating these risks.
- We are dedicated to fostering a proactive health and safety culture across all levels of our organisation.

 

2. Policy Objectives

  • Provide a safe working environment: Ensure that our workplaces are safe and free from hazards.

  • Prevent injuries and illnesses: Identify and mitigate risks to prevent injuries and illnesses.

  • Comply with regulations: Comply with relevant health and safety laws, regulations, and standards.

  • Train and educate employees: Provide regular training and education to employees on health and safety procedures.
    - Promote mental health awareness and stress management among staff.
    - Integrate safety into all phases of consulting projects, including site visits and community engagement activities.
     

3. Responsibilities

  • Management: Ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are implemented and followed.

  • Employees: Follow health and safety policies and procedures, report incidents and hazards, and participate in training and education.

  • Contractors: Comply with our health and safety policies and procedures when working on our behalf.
    - Safety coordinator: appointed to monitor day-to-day safety performance, conduct briefings, and lead emergency response efforts.
    - HR/Sustainability team: collaborate with project teams to ensure integration of health and safety into esg and project risk frameworks

4. Procedures

  • Risk assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify hazards and implement controls.

  • Incident reporting: Report incidents and near misses, and investigate to determine root causes.

  • Training and education: Provide regular training and education to employees on health and safety procedures.

  • Emergency preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans.
    - Maintain a first aid and medical response protocol in all field and office locations.
    - Implement a hazard identification system accessible to all staff and contractors.
    - Ensure that all consultants traveling for assignments are covered under organizational health and safety insurance.

5. Monitoring and Review

  • Regular reviews: Review our health and safety policy and procedures on a regular basis to ensure they remain effective.

  • Audits and inspections: Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with our health and safety policies and procedures.
    - Use leading and lagging safety indicators to monitor performance and inform decision-making.
    - Engage external experts periodically for independent safety audits and improvement recommendations.

6. ESG Considerations

  • Environmental considerations: Consider the environmental impact of our work and strive to minimise harm.
     

  • Social considerations: Consider the social impact of our work and strive to promote positive outcomes.
    - Align health and safety initiatives with relevant sustainable development goals (SDG), particularly SDG 3 (good health and well-being) and SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth).
    - Ensure that health and safety protocols are inclusive and sensitive to gender, disability, and vulnerable groups.

By implementing this Health and Safety Policy, OneWorld Sustainability Consult aims to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors, and clients, while also promoting ESG considerations in our work.
- This policy shall be communicated to all stakeholders and made publicly available through our website and project documentation.
